Research Training Fellowships for Medical Students
"Medical Fellows Program"
The Medical Fellows Program supports a year of full-time biomedical research training for medical, dental, and veterinary students. This includes joint initiatives with the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB) for students conducting research
in ophthalmology, particularly inherited retinal degenerative diseases,
and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) for veterinary students.

Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled in a medical, dental, or veterinary school. The fellowship research may be conducted at any academic or nonprofit institution in the United States, except the National Institutes of Health. Research may be conducted abroad if the fellow's mentor is affiliated with a U.S. institution.

Support Provided
For the 2010 competition: An annual stipend of $27,000, an annual fellow's allowance of $5,500, and an annual research allowance of $5,500. HHMI-FFB and HHMI-BWF Fellows will receive the same level of funding, and will have all the obligations and privileges of other fellows participating in the Medical Fellows Program.
